About The Slow Lane

My love for nature, especially the beach and palm trees, is deeply tied to memories with my dad and our travels. Every vacation we took revolved around fishing, the ocean, renting boats, and spending time on the water. Whether it was holidays down the Great Ocean Road, trips to Tasmania, or visits to Lakes Entrance, water was always at the heart of it. My dad, originally from South Africa, had a passion for sailing and fishing, which naturally resonated with me. I always knew that one day I wanted to live in the tropics and create.

Maybe that’s why I’m so captivated by palm trees—watching them sway gently in the breeze brings me such peace. It’s a simple but soothing sight, and I love what palm trees symbolize. They’re part of the landscape of the place I’ve always dreamed of living in.

Once I finally got here, I felt this surge of creative energy, but I wasn’t sure what to do with it. I have always been creative, in many formats. But I was still just trying to find my way, and what felt right for me. I started creating art, not really sharing it with anyone at first, just experimenting with how different colours made me feel. Selling prints wasn’t about starting a business; it was more about recouping the cost of materials and supporting a hobby.

And that’s how The Slow Lane was born!

Here we are today, I am filled with joy that you have found my work.

Much Love,

Morgan
